Do you also consume more bitter greens in spring? Bitter foods help improve your digestion, stimulate liver and are often packed with nutrients. Bitter compounds can be found in a variety of plant foods - cruciferous greens, arugula, italian cichory, bitter melons, wild herbs and many others. Although my first association when it comes to spring detox and bitter foods are dandelion greens, I do have to admit that I sometimes find them a bit too bitter 🙈 that's no big deal because there is still plenty to choose from. For example, wild asparagus are now in season in a big part of Europe, so why not enjoy what nature gave us? I love to eat them raw, in salads, seasoned with a little bit of homemade naturally fermented vinegar. If you don't prefer them raw, you can also steam them or cook them in a soup. Anyhow, don't be afraid to implement some bitter foods in your diet.. your body will thank you.
